Paris – Not So Cliche After All!

Paris – Not So Cliche After All!

Wow! I had no clue of the awesomeness Paris has to offer, from the breathtaking architecture to the amazing food and wine! This was the best last minute — bought the ticket the night before — trip ever! You can only do that in Europe and not pay an arm-and-a-leg for the ticket. My travel buddy and I, with the help of her good friend, toured all the must-see spots in less than 24 hours, from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc De Triomphe. I even had the opportunity to view the Mona Lisa — not at all what I expected but at least I can say I saw it. I won’t spoil it for those who have yet to see it in person. I had a delectable macaroon from a popular spot that has escaped my memory, but it was orgasmic (sorry kids) and I’m sad I only had the pleasure of eating two! I will never eat another macaroon in the U.S. again (well unless it was made by the French…I’m just saying). I drank lots a cafes, ate quite a few pastries and squeezed in a yummy baguette sandwich, as one should in Paris. During this short trip, two restaurants come to mind that I highly recommend venturing out to.

Claus – La Table Du Petit Dejeuner: Now the brunch here was outstanding, not the best I’ve ever had, but it came really close. I think it was the atmosphere, smell of baked goods, and nice wait staff that gave it that push to outstanding. I ordered the Bavarian pancake with apples and almonds, which was complex but full of flavor. It reminded me more of a chewy moist apple streusel. I also had fluffy scrambled eggs and thick bacon. All worth it!

Duck at Le Petit Canard

Le Petit Canard: If you are looking for a fantastical (yes I said it) steaklet of duck, Le Petit Canard is the place! I never knew duck could taste so succulent and lean. Order the Magret with four sides (suggest the string beans wrapped in bacon, diced potatoes, potato and chestnut puree, and mushrooms) and two sauces (I preferred the honey and sesame sauce). Bon Appetit!
